As you all aware Search Engine Optimization is a process of optimizing a blog or website for search engines like Google, Yahoo! or Bing. There are several ways of Search engine optimization techniques professional SEO experts practicing. The basic Search Engine Optimization is called as on-page Search engine optimization and Off-page search engine optimization.
Once you are done with basic search engine or on-page search engine optimization you should move to off-page search engine optimization which is also known as website marketing. Off-page search engine optimization involves marketing your site or blog using web 2.0 or social media networks, blog commenting, article marketing and getting links on niche blogs.
Well, in this I’m not going to write on how to search engine optimization but, will explain the key terms of search engine optimization. If you are new to search engine optimization (SEO) then you must understand the key terms used in search engine optimization (SEO).
Organic Search – Organic Search is a result on search engine result page (SERP) when a user searches for a keyword query. The Organic Search is also known a “natural” listings or “organic” listings. When you have more organic listings for your site than it means your SEO is fantastic.
SERP (Search Engine Results Page) – SERP or Search Engine Result Page is a list of all the results returned by a search engine after a user searches for specific keyword query. SERP results often included with links to the website with title and description. The matched keyword is highlighted with bold (in Google SERP).
PageRank (Google) – Page rank or commonly known as Google PageRank is Google’s own website’s link analysis algorithm which classifieds a website’s importance on the internet. The Google PageRank is starts from 0 to 10. The 0 is least ranking of unranked where 10 is highly ranked or most important page or site on the internet. There is still confusion on accuracy of those rankings because Google keep changing its algorithm when the highly ranked site may lose their rankings and least ranked sites may get ranked. Google never disclose its ranking algorithm so, it’s impossible to know how the Google Page rank system works, hence it’s impossible optimize your site for Google Page rank and get Ranking immediately. But only known possibility to get better ranking is getting Backlinks from similar niche sites and blogs with higher ranking authority.
Bing Authority – Bing Authority is often a link examination procedure giving a number importance assigned by Bing to display how significant a webpage is on the web from to 10, where 10 is top authority.
Backlinks – Backlinks or inlinks are incoming links to your website or blog or a single page. If you have more back links from higher authority sites which increases the popularity of your website. This is what used by Google to determine the PageRank of a website. There are few other terms used to name Backlinks; Incoming links, in links, inbound links and inward links.
Index or Indexed Pages – Indexed pages are known pages of your website or blog to search engines and those displayed by search engine in SERP. Once you submit your website to Search Engine the search engine bot crawls to your website and keeps a text copy of your contents into the search engine server.
Meta Information – Web sites often include descriptions in the form of Meta data. Description and key word Meta data can be utilized to identify the web page or your blog page’s articles. Search engines like Google and Yahoo! uses these details when listing in SERP.
Keyword Density – Keyword density is the percentage of how many times a keyword appears on a web page. This often compared to the total number of words in the article.
