SEO 2.0 – SEO (Search Engine Optimization / Optimisation) is a technique to optimize one’s website or blog to promote it to search engines. There are several hundred ways that SEO professionals are using tooptimize their website to get in to the top position of search engine’s result page.
In recent years SEO professionals started using new term – SEO 2.0. Term SEO 2.0 is in use since year 2006 and is credited to Clinton Cimring who first used this term in May 2006. Well, in this article I will try to describe few elements of SEO 2.0, including difference between SEO 1.0 and SEO 2.0, techniques, etc. So keep reading this article.
WHAT IS SEO 2.0
SEO 2.0 is a next generation search engine optimization technique and similar to the older generation SEO techniques, but is more into getting traffic or links from social media networks or Web 2.0, getting in-links or backlinks through different blogging Medias, using quality contents, and link baiting.
In SEO 1.0 search engine optimization professionals using techniques including, on-page optimization, off-page optimization, image optimization for image search engines, feed optimization, etc. In SEO 2.0 all those older search engine optimization techniques are used and including some of the latest optimization techniques like; Social Media Optimization or Web 2.0 optimization, RSS feed, News feed and Article optimization, Video media optimization for YouTube like video hosting websites, optimizing your business websites for local business search engines including Google Local search, etc.
How SEO 2.0 is different than SEO 1.0
In SEO 1.0 webmaster or SEO professional optimize his website using content, keywords, meta tags, Title , Images and Header tags but as mentioned above SEO 2.0 is mainly concerned towards social media or Web 2.0 optimization. SEO 2.0 ’s main concern is monetizing ones website using latest on-page / off-page techniques.
In SEO 1.0 webmasters and SEO professionals mainly acts to get links from other websites using Link building techniques. Those Link building techniques are adding manual links in his / his friends’ website, getting links from article submitting directories, exchanging links in link exchange scams (some fraud) or buying links from others. In older search engine algorithm those sites are listed in higher ranks where as in newer search engine algorithm those links looks useless. In SEO 2.0 getting links using social media submission, feed or atom submission, creating link bait or socializing your websites using facebook, linked-in, digg, stumbleupon, twitter etc. For the links in social media sites you don’t have to pay for them and those works better than the older in-link or back link techniques.
In older SEO 1.0 site owners used to get traffic or build traffic using online directories, some answer sites, and the links from other or similar sites, where in SEO 2.0 the traffic pours mainly from social media sites like; Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, del.icio.us, digg, stumbleupon, other social bookmarking sites, news sites, blogs etc.
So, as per my experience the SEO 2.0 is better than the SEO 1.0 (or just SEO), because SEO 2.0 is more target-oriented than SEO 1.0. Using SEO 2.0 you can make it work better for you as it works with your niche market and there is more chances of getting noticed. More traffic from Social media sites is good for your websites. Because of that, your website’s reputation on search engine will increase day by day that too investing fewer efforts than SEO 1.0.
