Bounce rate is a very significant aspect to consider when checking your web statistics. Analyzing bounce rate is the one method which will give you brief idea of the overall quality of your blog post and shows how efficiently your visitors using it. The higher the bounce rate the quality of article or the post is low.
If you are getting higher bounce rate then you must consider checking your writing quality and the article quality on your blog. Having huge number of visitors and having 85-90% of bounce rate isn’t good at all. 85-90% bounce rate means your overall visitors are not staying on your blog for not more than a minute, however it’s a rough calculation, this calculation also depend on the visitors your blog getting.
First, let’s see what is bounce rate? Bounce rate is a percentage of people that “bounce” from your website after arrival.
This can be said this way; Visitor clicks on your link in search engine result page (SERP) and visits your blog, but without navigating to other pages of your blog just leaves from the page which they landed (it’s called landing page), this is exactly called Bouncing. When more and more visitors bounce from a single page or landing page your bounce rate increases.
There are few important reasons you must always check to avoid high bounce rate. Having low bounce rate would radically increase your online revenue, search engine reputation and page rank. Today in this post I’m going to list some of them, so keep reading.
REASON # 1: BAD LAYOUT, FONTS AND UN FRIENDLY NAVIGATION
First impression will make a lot difference. Having a good eye catchy theme and an attractive design can essentially makes your visitors stay longer on your blog. I personally always prefer white and light gray themes. Since I installed my present theme my bounce rate vividly reduced.
Along with bad layout your blog’s font also makes difference. Never use too small or too big font. Always use any one of these fonts for best result. Arial, Sans-Serif Georgia, Times, Verdana, Geneva or Tahoma.
I always suggest having user friendly navigation bar. These user friendly website navigation structures can notably reduce your blog’s bounce rate.

REASON # 2: SLOW LOADING TIME
Website loading time is considered as one of the major reasons of bounce rate. If your blog’s page loads slowly (it’s not you, it’s your host. Try Site5 for best and fastest WordPress hosting) , your visitors are likely to close or go back to search without even waiting for your page to show up.
As you know, your visitors can find hundreds of thousands of blogs online they move to other blog and also they don’t have patience to wait till your page loads.
The maximum waiting time on internet is calculated 4 seconds to 6 seconds. Your page must open by this period, if not your visitor will leave you and move to next result. Therefore having quick loading pages can reduce bounce rate tremendously.

REASON # 3: HAVING TOO MANY ADVERTISEMENTS / SALES INFORMATION
Yes it’s true that, most of us blog to earn some handsome revenue online, but filling each and every space of your blog with ads can annoy visitors. This also increase bounce rate. Your visitor might get the wrong impression and leave your blog without reading at all!
REASON # 4: DISTURBING POP-UPS, LAYERED LIKE US BUTTONS AND REGISTER TO VIEW POLICY
Pop-ups are the most irritating thing when you visit a website. I personally hate pop-ups. When a blog welcomes user with annoying instant pop-ups, this could lead visitor to leave without waiting. This happens because your visitor gets annoyed.
Along with pop-ups now a day’s some bloggers use some kind of layered like us, subscribe pages, which also leads higher bounce rate. So consider about this and avoid having pop-ups and layered ads.
REASON # 5: FAILING TO PROVIDE A SEARCH BOX
You can add simple Search box to reduce the bounce rate. Every WordPress theme comes with search box, but some are disabled by default you need to enable it from theme settings. These search boxes lure visitors to search and discover what they are looking for; consequently your bouncing rate reduces.
Use Google Site Search: Google provides customized search bar to your WordPress blog, this you can use as your default site search engine. Its available in the form of script, copy and paste anywhere on your blog. Even using Google site search you can monetize your blog, add your adsense id and Google displays ads according to users search.
REASON # 6: OUTDATED CONTENT
Out dated and old contents also lead high bounce rate. If a visitor finds your content is not similar to present technology or outdated, he will leave without thinking. So consider adding some new information to your old posts. Keep track of your high bounce rate posts using Google Analytics try to update it.
REASON # 7: FAILING TO INTERLINK CONTENTS OF OWN BLOG POSTS
Interlink your blog posts. Your visitor is always desire about new information. Use Plugins or add links manually. Make sure to highlight the link with different colour than the post text colour so that, visitor understand that is a link to another page. Use nice keyword to interlink. This also increase your page value.
REASON # 8: EXTERNAL LINKS
External links on landing pages are exceptionally harmful and can increase bounce rate. So, try to reduce the external links that will help you to keep the visitors stay for longer time on your site. Instead add internal links.
REASON # 9: INAPPROPRIATE HEADLINE AND CONTENT INSIDE
It’s proven that, effective headline increase your click through rate, and also helps you to reduce bounce rate. If user sees that your headline doesn’t relate to your content, they would no longer stay to your blog.
REASON # 10: LOW QUALITY CONTENT WITH INTERACTIVE LOOK
Quality Content with Interactive Look – It’s not enough to write quality content but, you must make it pleasant to read. The interactive look I mentioned above means you have to create the ambience where your visitors can enjoy while reading. You should virtually interact with them by asking question, answering questions etc. This can be done by adding few questions between posts and answering it will engage your readers.
